Upcoming Winter Community Games Marks Our 15th Event of the Year

Monday 19th December sees a first for us at the Community Games.

On Monday we will be delivering our first ever Indoor Winter Community Games and it marks our 15th Community Games event of the year! The Winter Community Games will bring to a close a highly successful year for us. A year where we have delivered more Community Games events than ever before and a year where we have already inspired nearly 12000 visitors.

There have been 14 other Community Games events throughout the summer, many of which have been supported by Birmingham City Council through their Commonwealth Games 2022 Legacy Funding. All having a positive impact on inspiring activity within communities.

The Indoor Winter Community Games will be giving families the opportunity to tackle those winter blues and get active. Taking place at the BMET College in Sutton Coldfield, our event will see families and friends moving around a carousel of activities, all delivered by local sports providers, all giving them a taster of the range of sporting opportunities available to them in their community. As ever they will be collecting stickers and be rewarded for their activity with their very own medal to take away.

Up until our now Community Games events have been delivered in the summer months, in outdoor spaces. As a way of continuing with our mission to keep families active, we have extended our 2022 timetable to include a Winter Games on Monday 19 th December. Inspire Activity CEO and Community Games Founder Dennis Kennedy said:

“Our mission has always been to inspire health and happiness through physical activity. We thought it would be great to organise an indoor Winter Games. Winter is time when families can often find themselves struggling with things to do, either because of the weather or because of the dark nights setting in. Getting out and being active can sometimes be a struggle but it is the best thing we can do for our physical and mental health. We want to be able to help with this and we thought what better way than providing families with a safe, fun, friendly indoor environment for them to do just that. By having it indoors means that the cold and wet weather can’t impact them having a fun and inspiring day. We are so excited about this and can’t wait to see people there.”

The event will have 20 different activities for families to try including: dance, rugby, netball, football, American football, boogie bounce, sports therapy, boccia, wheelchair basketball, archery, scooting, Bhangra and many more. All activities will be available to try across two sports halls and dance studios, meaning whatever the weather families can enjoy a great time.

Tickets for the event can be booked the Winter Games link on Tickets www.community-games.uk/online-booking. There are two sessions available: 10am-12 noon and 1pm-3pm. For mor information contact [email protected].
